Swine Flu Fact Sheet
The swine flu virus is an influenza A virus (H1N1) that is spread in a similar manner as common seasonal flu. Typically, people suffering from swine flu cough and sneeze, expelling infectious droplets into the indoor environment. Some droplets settle on surfaces, others become airborne as droplet nuclei. The most common way of spread is directly from person to person. Some droplet nuclei can also travel through the building’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system and contaminate other parts of a building.
